Why Choose a Housecall Veterinarian?

Aside from the most obvious benefit of convenience, there are several reasons why you should make the switch to a housecall veterinarian!

- Most pets with a housecall veterinarian actually start enjoying their veterinary visits!

- We are able to spend more time with you without the rush of having to run into the next room

- A less rushed appointment allows us to provide your pet with more personalized care and for us to prioritize our relationship with your pet, and our relationship with you as partners in your pet’s healthcare

- We take on less patients than a traditional practice, allowing us more time to devote to our current patients

Dr. Miranda Coates

Veterinarian and owner of Cherished Companions Mobile Veterinary Care

Hello! I’m Dr. Miranda Coates. I have been practicing veterinary medicine in the Austin area since 2018. I currently enjoy working with dogs and cats, but am actively working to expand my practice to also work with small mammals such as guinea pigs, hamsters, and other rodents, as well as the larger pets such as pigs, sheep, and goats! I am committed to being a lifelong learner and always looking to expand my knowledge. I have taken advanced education courses and have earned the designations of  Peaceful Euthanasia Certified Veterinarian, I am a certified fear-free professional, as well as Housecall Vet Academy certified.

My focus is on promoting the importance of preventive care, which is to prevent disease and catch signs of the onset of disease early, instead of waiting for pets to show signs of illness. In short, practicing proactive medicine, instead of reactive medicine keeps pets healthier for longer. I also appreciate the different type of relationship I am able to form with my patients in their home as opposed to a clinic. I enjoy the slower pace and closer relationship during each appointment.
